Privacy Policy — Cookside: Recipe Cook Mode

Last updated 14 October 2026 · applies to Cookside for iOS

Cookside keeps your recipes on your iPhone. Webspind runs no server and cannot see which recipes you save or cook. The only thing sent on is purchase details. This page explains it in detail, and exists because Apple requires a privacy policy for every app.

What the app stores

Your recipes (title, ingredients, steps, who the recipe is from, the source link), any photos you add, and your settings. They stay on your iPhone. There is no account, no advertising identifier, no tracking and no analytics.

Importing from a link

When you import a recipe from a link, your iPhone opens that web page directly, the same way Safari would, and the app keeps only the ingredients, the steps, the title and the link. Nothing goes through Webspind. The website you visit may log the visit under its own privacy policy.

Scanning and photos

Scanning a page uses Apple's on-device text recognition; the photo is not uploaded anywhere. The camera is only used when you choose to scan or take a photo of your dish. Photos you pick from your library are copied into the recipe; the app has no access to the rest of your library.

Timers

Cooking timers use Apple's alarms and notifications, scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to Webspind.

iCloud

If iCloud is on, your recipes sync through your own iCloud account so they follow you to a new iPhone. They live in your private iCloud database at Apple; Webspind cannot access them.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple. To confirm and restore them, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase details (product, price, time and App Store receipt) and technical details such as app version and country. RevenueCat receives no recipes, name or email.

Contacting support

If you tap "Contact support", your mail app opens. You choose whether to send; if you do, I receive what you write and your email address, and use it only to reply.

Crash reports

If you share analytics with developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send me aggregated crash reports with device model, iOS version and a stack trace. They contain no name, email or recipes.

Children

Cookside is not directed at children under 13.

Delete your data

Deleting a recipe deletes it and its photo. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your iPhone. Recipes in iCloud can be deleted in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage. For purchase data at RevenueCat, write to me and I will have it deleted.

Changes

If the policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is mentioned in the app's release notes.

Questions, or want something deleted? Write to webspind@gmail.com and I will answer within two working days.
