Privacy Policy — Longwalk
Last updated 13 October 2026 · applies to Longwalk for iOS
Longwalk keeps your walks on your iPhone. Webspind runs no server and cannot see your health data, your location or your routes. The only things sent on are purchase details and, when you plan a walk, a map search to Apple and map-tile requests to OpenFreeMap. This page explains it in detail, and exists because Apple requires a privacy policy for every app.
What the app reads
Only your walking and running distance from Apple Health, with your permission. Longwalk uses it on your iPhone to move you along the route you chose. It never writes to Health, never reads any other health data and never sends health data anywhere.
What the app stores
The routes you started, when you started them, your daily goal and whether you want postcard notifications. It stays on your iPhone. The home-screen widget reads a small summary (route, distance, next stop) from a shared space on the same iPhone. There is no account, no advertising identifier, no fingerprinting and no analytics.
Your location
Only when you use Walk from here. Your position is used on the device to plan a loop and is sent with the search to Apple Maps, which returns nearby parks and walking directions. Webspind never receives or stores your location. Apple handles these requests under Apple's privacy policy.
To find footpaths for your loop, the app also downloads map tiles of the area around you from OpenFreeMap, built from OpenStreetMap data. A tile request reveals roughly which area you are in (a square of a few kilometres) and your IP address, like any web request. No account, health data or exact position is sent, and Webspind never receives the requests.
Purchases
Purchases are handled by Apple. To confirm and restore them, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase details (product, price, time and App Store receipt) and technical details such as app version and country. RevenueCat receives no health data, location, name or email.
Notifications
If you ask for a note when you reach a new stop, the notifications are scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to a server.
Crash reports
If you share analytics with developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send me aggregated crash reports with device model, iOS version and a stack trace. They contain no name, email, health data or location.
Children
Longwalk is not directed at children.
Delete your data
Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. Your walks stay in the Health app, where you manage them; you can also remove Longwalk's access in Settings → Health → Data Access. For your purchase data at RevenueCat, write to me and I will have it deleted.
Changes
If the policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the change is mentioned in the app's release notes.
